Zaavier Khan leads British Muslim children in charity campaign

British Muslim children in London have successfully raised over £106,000 ($132,000) during Ramadan to support displaced families in Palestine and Yemen. The initiative, known as Ramadan Kids, was initiated by Zaavier Khan from East London when he was just 10 years old. Over the years, the campaign has grown significantly, with this year involving 23 children touring restaurants across the UK capital to learn and cook various dishes.

The children, aged between four and 13, visited four restaurants, including Indian, Pakistani, Moroccan, and American cuisine establishments. They learned to prepare dishes like marinated chicken, grilled chicken burgers, and naans with cheese and chicken filling. Additionally, they participated in a date decorating workshop where they customized dates with different ingredients and chocolates.

One of the highlights of the campaign was the involvement of Supporting Humanity, a local mental health and bereavement charity, which sponsored fundraising kits and goodie bags for the children. The charity also collaborated with UK-based organizations to provide support to vulnerable individuals in Gaza and orphans in Yemen.

Overall, the Ramadan Kids campaign not only raised a significant amount for a noble cause but also provided educational resources and experiences for the participating children. The event culminated in a full-day Ramadan street festival featuring food sales and auctions of items signed by major sports teams, further contributing to the charitable efforts.
