Tiger Woods leads a historic Masters comeback attempt, facing tough competition at Augusta National with Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy in contention.

Tiger Woods, a golf legend with 15 major titles, including five Masters green jackets, embarked on a historic 23-hole walk at the 88th Masters tournament. The first round, delayed by rain, saw Woods at one-under par after 13 holes before play was halted. Despite severe leg injuries from a 2021 car crash, Woods aimed to complete the round and play a full 18 holes in the second round, facing his toughest test since returning in 2022.

Leading the pack was Bryson DeChambeau, holding a one-stroke lead over Scottie Scheffler after firing a remarkable seven-under par 65. Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion, remained in contention alongside Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele. McIlroy, seeking a career grand slam, showed promise with his best opening round at the Masters since 2018.

As play resumed, Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard and American Max Homa were poised to challenge the leaders, with England's Danny Willett also in the mix. The tournament featured a strong field, including players from the Saudi-backed LIV Golf group, adding to the competitive atmosphere at Augusta National.

In a bid to make Masters history, Woods faced a grueling schedule, aiming to surpass the record for consecutive cuts made at the tournament. With contenders vying for the lead and the promise of an exciting finish, the 88th Masters promised to deliver thrilling golf action and potential surprises as the competition unfolded.
