Dubai-based mountaineer Naila Kiani becomes the first Pakistani woman to scale 11 peaks above 8,000 meters, including Mount Makalu. Her dedication and achievements in mountaineering inspire climbers and women globally.
Naila Kiani, a Dubai-based mountaineer, achieved a remarkable feat by conquering Mount Makalu, the fifth-highest peak in the world. This accomplishment not only adds another feather to her cap but also makes her the first woman in Pakistan's history to scale 11 peaks above 8,000 meters.
Mount Makalu, towering at 8,485 meters (27,838 feet), is located in the Mahalangur range of the Nepal Himalayas, southeast of Mount Everest. Kiani's impressive mountaineering resume now includes summits of renowned peaks such as Broad Peak, Annapurna, K2, Lhotse, Gasherbrum 1, Gasherbrum II, Nanga Parbat, Mount Everest, Manaslu, and Cho Oyu.
Despite her demanding profession as a banker and being a mother of two, Kiani has shown unparalleled dedication to her passion for climbing. Her journey to the summit of Mount Makalu marks a significant milestone not only for her but also for Pakistani women in the field of mountaineering.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Kiani was honored with Pakistan's prestigious civilian award, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, earlier this year for her successful ascent of Mount Everest. Her determination, resilience, and unwavering spirit continue to inspire aspiring climbers and women worldwide.
