In Alwar, Rajasthan, Hinduja Foundation and partners empower women through entrepreneurship, focusing on sustainable water management and community development.

In rural areas of India, access to clean water remains a significant challenge, especially for women who often spend hours fetching water for their families. In Alwar, Rajasthan, positive changes are taking place to address this issue.

The Hinduja Foundation and Ashok Leyland have collaborated on successful sustainable water management initiatives in Alwar. Through the Jal Jeevan program, 450 women are undergoing training as entrepreneurs, focusing on skill development and business opportunities in sectors like food and tailoring.

This joint effort involves the Hinduja Foundation, Ashok Leyland, and BML Munjal University. The Atal Community Innovation Centre at the university is working with Sujal Mahila Mahasangh Alwar to empower women interested in starting their own businesses. These women, known as Sujal Sahelis, are receiving training and resources to kickstart their entrepreneurial ventures.

The primary objective is to support at least 80% of the Sujal Sahelis in successfully launching their micro-businesses. This initiative underscores a commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development, with a focus on empowering marginalized communities and fostering economic independence among rural women.

Through the partnership between Hinduja Foundation and BML Munjal University, efforts are being made to promote sustainable livelihoods and economic growth. The program not only aims to unleash the potential of these women but also to contribute to the overall development of their communities.

This collaborative endeavor involving multiple organizations is poised to have a positive impact on the economic landscape of the region, empowering women and nurturing entrepreneurship for a brighter future.
