Fuel prices in Islamabad are set to decrease from May 1, 2024, due to the drop in global oil prices, with petrol and diesel prices expected to lower, providing relief to consumers and positively impacting the cost of living.

The prices of petrol and diesel in Islamabad are anticipated to witness a decrease starting from May 1. This reduction is attributed to the decline in the price of Brent crude oil in the global market. As a result, petrol prices are expected to drop by Rs. 5 per liter, while diesel prices may decrease by Rs. 8 per liter.

The government is likely to implement a reduction of Rs. 5 per liter in petrol prices for the initial 15 days of May 2024. Following this adjustment, the price of petrol is set to decrease from Rs. 293.94 per liter to Rs. 288 per liter. Similarly, diesel prices will see a reduction from Rs. 290.38 to Rs. 282.38 per liter, marking a decrease of Rs. 8 per liter. Furthermore, the price of kerosene is expected to drop by Rs. 8 per liter from Rs. 193.8 to Rs. 185.5, while the price of light diesel oil may witness a decrease of Rs. 5.37 per liter, going from Rs. 174.34 to Rs. 168.97.

The anticipated decrease in petrol and diesel prices in Islamabad from May 1, 2024, comes as a relief to consumers, aligning with the downward trend in global crude oil prices. This adjustment is expected to positively impact the cost of living for residents and provide some respite amidst economic challenges.
