ONGC partners with EverEnviro to set up 10 CBG plants in India, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy production. The collaboration supports renewable energy goals and environmental sustainability efforts.

India's renewable energy goals received a significant boost as ONGC, a prominent oil and gas company, joined hands with EverEnviro Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. to set up 10 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across the country. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, aims to reduce India's dependence on imported gas by utilizing agricultural residue, agro-industrial waste, energy crops, and municipal solid waste as raw materials for the CBG facilities. These plants are projected to offset approximately 7.5 lakh tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually.

ONGC's Executive Director, Satyan Kumar, highlighted the importance of alternative fuels like biogas in meeting India's energy needs sustainably. The company's commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2038 aligns with this partnership, expected to play a significant role in reducing carbon emissions. EverEnviro plans to establish over 100 CBG plants in India, with the ONGC joint venture marking a crucial milestone in their efforts. The company's focus on diverse feedstocks and ongoing projects in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab underscores its dedication to promoting renewable energy and circular economy principles.

The collaboration between ONGC and EverEnviro not only supports government initiatives such as GOBARdhan, Waste to Wealth, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat but also advances the domestic renewable energy agenda. Additionally, the organic manure produced by the CBG units is expected to enhance soil health and fertility, promoting regenerative agriculture. This partnership reflects India's efforts to meet its commitments under the Global Biofuels Alliance and work towards achieving net zero emissions by 2070, showcasing a collective push by the public and private sectors towards an energy transition driven by biofuels and efficient waste management.

The collaboration between ONGC and EverEnviro to establish CBG plants signifies a significant step towards sustainable energy production in India. By leveraging biogas technology and utilizing diverse waste sources, these initiatives not only contribute to reducing carbon emissions but also support the country's renewable energy goals. The partnership exemplifies a shared commitment towards environmental sustainability and underscores the importance of innovative solutions in addressing energy challenges. As India progresses towards a greener future, initiatives like these pave the way for a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy landscape.
