Pakistan's Mobile Industry Booms with Local Production Surge

In the first five months of the current fiscal year, Pakistan's local mobile assembly and manufacturers have made significant strides in the production of mobile phones. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), a total of 13.8 million mobile phones were manufactured locally during this period, marking a notable achievement for the industry.

The data released by the PTA also revealed a contrasting trend in the import of commercial mobile phones, which saw a sharp decline to only 0.75 million units within the same timeframe. This shift towards local production highlights the country's increasing capacity and expertise in manufacturing mobile devices.

Breaking down the numbers further, out of the 13.8 million devices produced, 8.1 million were smartphones, while the remaining 4.98 million were categorized as 2G devices. This diversification in production showcases the industry's adaptability to meet the varying demands of consumers.
