Uzbek Ambassador Invites FPCCI to Tashkent Investment Forum

The Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Oybek Arif Usmanov, extended an invitation to the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) leadership to participate in the upcoming 'Tashkent International Investment Forum' scheduled for May 2. The forum, under the patronage of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aims to bring together foreign investors and businessmen to explore bilateral and multilateral investment opportunities.

During a meeting with FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, various matters were discussed, including bilateral trade cooperation, investment initiatives, and the exchange of trade delegations through the Pakistan and Uzbekistan Business Council. The Ambassador emphasized the significance of the forum in facilitating global investments and enhancing regional business prospects through the signing of agreements.

Usmanov highlighted the participation of major global investment institutions and investors in the event, offering a platform for extensive multilateral cooperation. He also stressed the need to establish the Afghanistan-Pakistan corridor to facilitate smoother trade and economic activities, proposing the initiation of direct flights between Islamabad, Lahore, and Uzbekistan.

President FPCCI, Atif Ikram Sheikh, acknowledged the growing exports between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, emphasizing the potential for further expansion in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, machinery, and agriculture. He expressed gratitude for the invitation to the Tashkent forum and confirmed FPCCI's participation in the single-country exhibition in Uzbekistan on June 28.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures from FPCCI, including Chairman Karim Aziz Malik, Vice President Ashfaq Ahmed, and others. The Uzbek ambassador was accompanied by Economic and Trade Consul Bakurum Yusov, further solidifying the ties between the two nations.
