A recent meeting between a WHO delegation and FBR officials in Islamabad focused on enhancing tobacco taxation through a track and trace system to combat illicit trade, emphasizing international cooperation for public health protection.

A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) recently met with Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, at the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. The delegation, consisting of Roberto Iglesias and Santiago Carrillo, discussed matters related to tobacco taxation with a focus on implementing and enforcing a track and trace system to combat illicit trade in the tobacco sector.

During the meeting, the delegation, along with Member IR (Operations) Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, addressed the operational challenges involved in ensuring effective taxation and regulation of the tobacco industry.
