The international conference at AIOU focused on Ijtihad Bilmaqasid, emphasizing its importance in addressing contemporary challenges within Islamic principles. Scholars and experts gathered to discuss the application of Quranic and Sunnah wisdom in tackling modern-day issues.

The recently concluded international conference on 'Ijtehad Bilmaqasid' at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) brought together scholars and experts to delve into the significance of Ijtihad in addressing contemporary challenges within the framework of Islamic principles. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood highlighted the need for a shift in societal mindset to promote peace and order, citing Ijtihad as a logical tool to navigate emerging complexities.

With over 100 articles submitted and participation from 50 local and foreign scholars, the conference aimed to provide valuable recommendations for institutions and researchers engaged in Ijtihad. Dean Prof. Dr. Mohyuddin Hashmi underscored the pioneering nature of the event, marking it as a milestone in Pakistan's academic landscape.

One of the key speakers, Maulana Mufti Muhammad Zahid, elucidated on the concept of Ijtihad Bilmaqasid, aligning it with Sharia principles and the divine intentions as per Islamic teachings. The conference stressed the application of Quranic and Sunnah wisdom to tackle modern-day issues, urging scholars to delve deeper into the Islamic jurisprudence.

The collaboration between AIOU's Department of Islamic Thought, History, and Culture, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot, facilitated an enriching discourse led by distinguished figures like Prof. Dr. Saeedur Rehman, Retd. Judge Hasan Saeed from Maldives, Dr. Hafiz Rao Farhan Ali, and Dr. Hafiz Saeed Rehman from AIOU.

The conference not only shed light on the pivotal role of Ijtihad in Islam but also served as a platform for fostering scholarly dialogue and promoting a deeper understanding of Islamic jurisprudence in the contemporary context.
