ATH Hospital Faces Medicines Transportation Scandal

A recent inquiry conducted by the administration of Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) in Abbottabad has uncovered a troubling incident involving the transportation of hospital medicines to an undisclosed location. The incident, captured in a widely circulated video on June 22, 2024, showed medicines and surgical items from ATH being transported in a Suzuki vehicle, causing concern among the public.

The investigation revealed discrepancies in the batch numbers of the items shown in the video compared to the hospital's official inventory. These medicines and surgical disposables, which were readily available in the market, raised suspicions that they may not have originated from ATH. The presence of stamps from the Medicine Coordination Cell, intended for procurement across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, further fueled doubts.

Further scrutiny indicated that the items in the video lacked the hospital's seal, indicating that they were not part of ATH's supplies. Some of the products featured were never purchased or recorded in the hospital's inventory. Most of the items showcased in the video are commonly found in medical stores near ATH Hospital.

In response to the inquiry findings, the hospital administration acknowledged the incident and condemned the video as an intentional effort to damage the institution's reputation. The dissemination of this misleading video has caused distress among hospital staff and impacted public trust in the hospital. ATH remains resolute in its dedication to transparency and providing exceptional patient care, ensuring the community that all necessary measures are being implemented to maintain the integrity of its healthcare services.
