DAFPAK and PWD KP celebrate a milestone collaboration event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing the impact on healthcare and family planning services.

DAFPAK, a prominent organization dedicated to improving population health outcomes in Pakistan, recently celebrated a significant milestone by collaborating with the Population Welfare Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PWD KP). The collaboration involved the formal handover of campaign assets of the communication platform Khairkhwah and materials developed under the Public Sector Service Delivery (PSSD) component of DAFPAK.

The event, which took place at Monal, Peshawar on April 25, 2023, brought together key government officials and health sector leaders to emphasize the importance of government partnerships in advancing family planning and healthcare services in the region. Notable figures such as Ayesha Ihsan, Director General of Population Welfare Department, and Dr. Shaukat Ali, Director General of Health Services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, delivered speeches acknowledging the program's positive impact on healthcare and family planning services.

Valued at £90 million, the DAFPAK Programme is recognized as the largest donor-funded family planning initiative in Pakistan. It focuses on behavior change communication through the Khairkhwah brand and delivering quality family planning services through public sector health facilities. The Khairkhwah initiative aims to increase demand for modern contraceptives and remove barriers to family planning utilization, reaching millions of individuals through various communication channels.

The PSSD component of the programme has successfully engaged with provincial and district-level governments to strengthen family planning systems. In intervention districts like Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera, the programme has prevented maternal deaths, unsafe abortions, and provided essential services to a significant number of family planning users.

The event concluded with a formal handover of campaign assets from M&C Saatchi, the Behavior Change Communication lead for DAFPAK, to the Population Welfare Department KP. This collaboration underscores the shared commitment to improving reproductive health and sets the stage for continued partnerships to promote sustainable population management in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The collaboration between DAFPAK and the Population Welfare Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa represents a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services and family planning initiatives in the region. By leveraging innovative communication strategies and strengthening public sector health facilities, the partnership aims to create a healthier future for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
