In a recent statement, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), emphasized the importance of polio vaccination drives and routine immunization to prevent the resurgence of the virus. He highlighted the crucial role of parental cooperation with polio teams and urged the media to assist in convincing parents about the necessity of vaccination.

The ongoing polio eradication campaign in 91 districts of Pakistan, running until May 3, relies heavily on the support of the public, according to Dr. Ahmad. He stressed that the success of this campaign hinges on the collective efforts of scholars, teachers, stakeholders, and civil society members to ensure the country rids itself of this contagious disease.

Dr. Ahmad commended the dedication of polio workers who are diligently going door-to-door to administer vaccines. He called on parents to disregard misinformation about the polio vaccine and to ensure their children are vaccinated to safeguard them against the poliovirus.
