Deputy Commissioner Jappa Leads Polio Eradication Campaign

Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa of Bahawalpur district has taken a proactive step in the fight against polio by launching an anti-polio campaign. The campaign, scheduled to kick off on July 1st, aims to vaccinate more than 824,000 children under the age of five in the region.

During a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Jappa, key officials, including the Chief Executive Officer of District Health Authority and representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), gathered to strategize on the upcoming polio eradication campaign. The meeting highlighted the crucial importance of ensuring that every child under five receives the polio vaccine to safeguard their health.

Under the vigilant supervision of Deputy Commissioner Jappa, the health department officials will coordinate the deployment of a total of 3,276 mobile teams, 195 fixed teams, and 136 transit teams for the campaign. These teams will embark on door-to-door visits from July 1st to July 3rd to administer the life-saving polio vaccine. Additionally, any missed children will be promptly covered during catch-up activities scheduled for July 4th and 5th.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of vaccines in combating polio, Deputy Commissioner Jappa has instructed health department officials to closely monitor the vaccination teams during their field operations.
