The establishment of the Rescue 1122 Service in Punjab in 2004 marked a significant milestone in enhancing emergency response capabilities. Despite challenges, the Fire Rescue Service was established in 2007 to further strengthen firefighting efforts.
However, firefighters in Karachi have faced hardships due to limited resources and financial constraints. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has struggled to provide essential support to its fire brigade, leading to casualties and disabilities among firefighters.
On this International Firefighters Day, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has pledged to honor firefighters for their invaluable contributions to the city's safety.
