International Firefighters Day commemorates the sacrifices and valor of firefighters globally. Karachi Mayor pledges support for firefighters, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring community safety.

International Firefighters Day is a global tribute to the brave men and women who selflessly put their lives on the line to protect communities during emergencies. Established in 1999 after a tragic incident in Australia, this day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by firefighters worldwide.

In Pakistan, firefighters are recognized for their valor and dedication. The establishment of the Rescue 1122 Service in Punjab in 2004 marked a significant milestone in enhancing emergency response capabilities. Despite challenges, the Fire Rescue Service was established in 2007 to further strengthen firefighting efforts.

However, firefighters in Karachi have faced hardships due to limited resources and financial constraints. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has struggled to provide essential support to its fire brigade, leading to casualties and disabilities among firefighters.

On this International Firefighters Day, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has pledged to honor firefighters for their invaluable contributions to the city's safety. The day also highlights the need to address challenges faced by these heroes and ensure they have the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi, Engr. Sibghat Ullah, emphasized the dedication of firefighters and their pivotal role in emergency response. He highlighted the importance of timely information and the successful operations carried out by Rescue-1122 in saving lives and property.

Despite facing tragic incidents, the Punjab Emergency Service continues to prioritize safety procedures and specialized training for firefighters. The commitment and preparedness of rescue personnel have been commendable, with regular drills and exercises maintaining their readiness to tackle any challenge.

International Firefighters Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by firefighters globally and the need to support and recognize their invaluable service to communities.
