The Ulu Pandan park connector in Clementi, Singapore, reopens after reconstruction post-landslide. HDB strengthens slopes for enhanced safety, ensuring well-being of residents and visitors.

The Ulu Pandan park connector in Clementi, Singapore, has recently reopened to the public after undergoing reconstruction works due to a landslide incident. The Housing and Development Board (HDB) took necessary steps to strengthen the slopes in a wider area to ensure enhanced safety measures for park users.

The unfortunate landslide occurred on September 2, 2022, near the construction site of the Clementi NorthArc Build-to-Order (BTO) project. This incident took place during the construction of a retaining wall for a basketball court and pavilion, leading to soil displacement into Sungei Ulu Pandan and causing damage to the park connector.

Described as a 'slope failure' by the HDB, it's important to note that the structural integrity of the residential blocks being constructed was not compromised during the event. Following the incident, restoration and reinforcement efforts were promptly initiated in phases, with different sections of the park connector gradually reopening to the public for safe usage.

The reopening of the Ulu Pandan park connector marks a significant milestone after the challenging period of reconstruction. The safety enhancements made by the HDB serve as a reminder of the importance of proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring the well-being of residents and park visitors alike.
