The Counter-Terrorism Department in Punjab intensifies security measures by geo-tagging seminaries and identifying suspected terrorists to combat terrorism and ensure safety in the region.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab has taken significant steps in enhancing security measures following recent terrorism incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. The CTD has successfully completed the geo-tagging of more than 19,000 seminaries (madrassas) in the province, aiming to track and monitor any suspicious activities.

According to CTD officials, the department has identified over 9,000 suspected terrorists in Punjab, with 65 individuals who have returned from Syria being among them. Additionally, monitoring has commenced for 22 individuals who have returned to Pakistan after being released from Guantanamo Bay.

The CTD record reveals alarming statistics, indicating that 2,298 youth in Punjab have received militant training from Afghanistan, while 1,566 individuals have been trained within the country. Furthermore, 540 individuals who have been released from Afghan prisons are also under scrutiny.

All individuals on the watch list are reportedly linked to banned outfits or organizations, emphasizing the CTD's efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of the province.

The completion of geo-tagging for thousands of seminaries and the identification of suspected terrorists underscore the proactive approach of the Counter-Terrorism Department in Punjab. By closely monitoring individuals with militant backgrounds and affiliations with banned groups, the CTD aims to prevent potential security threats and maintain peace in the region.
