Health officials in Balochistan are on high alert as six cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever have been confirmed this year. With Eid Al-Adha approaching, preventive measures are crucial to combat the spread of the deadly Congo virus.

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), also known as the Congo virus, has raised concerns in Balochistan province, Pakistan. Health officials have confirmed six cases of this viral disease so far this year. The CCHF virus is transmitted to humans through ticks or contact with infected animal blood.

Last year, Balochistan witnessed a significant outbreak of the Congo virus, with 54 reported cases and 18 fatalities. Among the victims were a dedicated physician and a paramedic, highlighting the risks faced by healthcare workers in combating this disease.

As Eid Al-Adha approaches, there is a fear that the number of CCHF cases may surge due to increased livestock trading and animal sacrifices during the festival. It is crucial for the public to take preventive measures, such as using insect repellent and wearing protective clothing when handling animals, to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.

Individuals in Balochistan are urged to stay vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and bleeding. Early detection and treatment are essential in managing CCHF and preventing its spread within the community.

Health authorities are working tirelessly to raise awareness about the Congo virus and implement control measures to contain its transmission. By staying informed and following recommended safety guidelines, the public can contribute to minimizing the impact of this deadly disease.
