An unknown respiratory illness affecting women and children in Badakhshan province prompts health teams to investigate and provide treatment to contain the outbreak.

An unknown respiratory illness has struck more than a hundred women and children in the Khawahan district of Badakhshan province. The outbreak was first reported three days ago, with symptoms including severe coughing and chest pain. Health teams have been dispatched to the area from the province's center to investigate and provide assistance.

Initial assessments suggest that the illness may be 'whooping cough,' but a definitive diagnosis has not yet been made. As a precautionary measure, 80 children and 40 women have been transferred to the Khawahan district health center for treatment. The lack of nearby health facilities and the distance to the health center are believed to have contributed to the rapid spread of the illness in the region.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and working to identify the cause of the outbreak. Efforts are underway to contain the illness and prevent further infections among the local population. Residents are urged to seek medical attention if they experience any symptoms related to the respiratory illness.
