Health teams investigate respiratory illness outbreak in Badakhshan province

An unknown respiratory illness has struck more than a hundred women and children in the Khawahan district of Badakhshan province. The outbreak was first reported three days ago, with symptoms including severe coughing and chest pain. Health teams have been dispatched to the area from the province's center to investigate and provide assistance.

Initial assessments suggest that the illness may be 'whooping cough,' but a definitive diagnosis has not yet been made. As a precautionary measure, 80 children and 40 women have been transferred to the Khawahan district health center for treatment. The lack of nearby health facilities and the distance to the health center are believed to have contributed to the rapid spread of the illness in the region.
