IRSA releases 255,000 cusecs of water to manage levels in key reservoirs, aiming to prevent flooding and scarcity.

The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has recently made a significant announcement regarding the release of water from various rim stations. A total of 255,000 cusecs of water has been released, with an inflow of 312,100 cusecs. This decision comes as a response to the current water levels in key reservoirs along the Indus River.

The water level at Tarbela Dam on the Indus River is currently at 1459.68 feet, which is 61.68 feet above its minimum level of 1,398 feet. Similarly, the water level at Mangla Dam on the Jhelum River stands at 1181.00 feet, surpassing its minimum level of 1,050 feet by 133.00 feet.

Specific details of the water release rates include: Kalabagh - 184,500 cusecs, Taunsa - 170,700 cusecs, Guddu - 102,200 cusecs, and Sukkur - 70,100 cusecs. These releases are crucial for maintaining water levels and ensuring proper water management in the region.

The release of water by IRSA is a strategic move to address the current water levels in key reservoirs along the Indus River. By carefully managing the water release rates, IRSA aims to maintain a balance in water levels and prevent any potential risks of flooding or water scarcity. This proactive approach highlights the importance of effective water management practices for sustainable development and environmental conservation.
