IRSA releases water from Indus River dams, maintaining levels to prevent flooding.
The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has recently released a significant amount of water from various rim stations. As of the latest data, the water inflow stands at 184,700 cusecs, with a release of 144,300 cusecs. This update provides crucial information about the water levels in different dams along the Indus River.
At Tarbela Dam, the water level is currently at 1465.09 feet, which is 51.09 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. The dam recorded an inflow of 32,200 cusecs and an outflow of 20,000 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the water level at Mangla Dam is reported to be 1165.00 feet, exceeding its dead level by 115.00 feet. The inflow and outflow at Mangla Dam were recorded at 63,200 cusecs and 35,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at different stations is as follows: Kalabagh - 75,800 cusecs, Taunsa - 59,500 cusecs, Guddu - 44,700 cusecs, Sukkur - 9,100 cusecs. Additionally, from River Kabul, 67,300 cusecs of water were released at Nowshera, and 12,800 cusecs were released from River Chenab at Marala.
The recent water release by IRSA indicates a proactive approach to managing water resources and ensuring the proper functioning of dams along the Indus River. This update serves as a reminder of the importance of monitoring water levels and maintaining a balance between inflow and outflow to prevent any potential risks of flooding or water scarcity in the region.
