IRSA releases significant water to manage dam levels along the Indus River. Controlled water release at various points crucial for flood prevention and sustainable water supply.
The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has recently released a significant amount of water from various rim stations. As per the latest data, the water inflow and outflow levels at different dams along the Indus River have been closely monitored.
At Tarbela Dam, the water level in River Indus currently stands at 1418.26 feet, which is 20.26 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. The dam recorded an inflow of 19,700 cusecs and an outflow of 30,000 cusecs.
River Jhelum at Mangla Dam has a water level of 1102.70 feet, surpassing its dead level by 52.70 feet. The inflow and outflow rates were reported as 29,500 cusecs and 20,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, and Sukkur was recorded as 36,000, 34,100, 29,000, and 7,600 cusecs respectively. Additionally, from River Kabul, a total of 19,100 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera, and 7,100 cusecs were released from River Chenab at Marala.
The controlled release of water by IRSA is crucial for managing water levels and ensuring the safety of dams and surrounding areas. Continuous monitoring and effective water management are essential to prevent flooding and maintain a sustainable water supply for various regions.
