Hyderabad's District Traffic Management board Secretary, Javed Iqbal, urges action against soft encroachments hindering traffic flow in the city. Collaboration between authorities is crucial for urban safety.

Hyderabad is facing a resurgence of soft encroachment issues, prompting the Honourary Secretary of District Traffic Management board, Javed Iqbal, to take action. In a letter addressed to the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), Iqbal highlighted the need to address the growing problem of encroachments in the city. He specifically urged the Municipal Commissioner, Zahoor Lakhan, to revitalize the HMC's anti-encroachment cell by assigning officials of good repute to the task.

Iqbal expressed concern over the reemergence of soft encroachments that had previously been removed following an order from the Sindh High Court. He criticized the lack of action by the authorities, noting the absence of any visible efforts from the anti-encroachment cell across the city. The encroachments were identified as hindrances to traffic flow in a city experiencing a continuous increase in the number of vehicles on its roads. To address the issue, Iqbal submitted a list of 26 areas requiring urgent attention to combat encroachments.

The situation underscores the pressing need for proactive measures to tackle encroachment challenges in Hyderabad. With traffic congestion on the rise, effective enforcement of anti-encroachment policies is crucial to ensure smooth movement within the city. The collaboration between the District Traffic Management board and the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will be essential in addressing these issues and maintaining a safe and efficient urban environment.
