Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive plan to eliminate encroachments within the city. In recent meetings with key departments such as Estate, Land, Anti-Encroachments, and Council, Mayor Wahab highlighted the detrimental impact of encroachments on urban development and safety.

Encroachments, particularly on footpaths, have been identified as a significant issue contributing to urban decay and traffic accidents. Mayor Wahab has instructed officials to prioritize the removal of encroachments from footpaths in the South and East Districts to ensure the safety of pedestrians and smooth traffic flow.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Mayor Wahab directed the Senior Director of Land and Senior Director of Anti-Encroachment to work closely with district administration to effectively tackle encroachments. He also emphasized the prohibition of encroachments near public spaces like parks, playgrounds, and places of worship, as well as the removal of illegal structures erected by the land mafia.

In a bid to enhance market discipline, Mayor Wahab urged shopkeepers to adhere to designated limits and refrain from occupying public spaces in KMC markets. He warned of disciplinary measures against non-performing officers and stressed the necessity of transparent and dedicated efforts to improve the city's overall condition.

Mayor Wahab called on Anti-Encroachments and Land Department officials to maintain vigilance in their respective areas, combat land mafia activities, and promptly address encroachments to enhance the city's infrastructure and traffic management.
