Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, a senior puisne judge, has been appointed as the acting chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) following the retirement of Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim. Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim is set to take the oath of office on April 15, succeeding Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim who is retiring on April 14.

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim gained prominence for leading a five-judge bench that recently ruled against allocating special National Assembly seats to PTI-SIC. His judicial acumen and experience have been recognized by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which is expected to give final approval for his appointment as the PHC chief justice.
