Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim takes on the role of Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, bringing a strong legal background and experience to uphold justice and fairness in the judicial system.

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim officially assumed the role of Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court in a ceremony held on Monday. The oath was administered by the second most senior judge, Justice Ijaz Anwar, in the presence of judges, lawyers, and other officials.

Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan retired on April 14 upon reaching the age of superannuation, paving the way for Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim to step into the acting chief justice position. His appointment was made by President Asif Ali Zardari until confirmation by the parliamentary committee for the appointment of judges.

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, a native of Peshawar, brings a wealth of legal experience to his new role. He obtained his LL.B degree from Khyber Law College Peshawar in 1992 and has previously served as an assistant advocate general from 1999 to 2000. Additionally, he held the position of additional advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2008 to 2010.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan had recommended Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim's appointment as chief justice on March 30, further solidifying his credentials for the role.

With his strong legal background and experience, Acting Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim is poised to uphold the principles of justice and fairness in the Peshawar High Court, ensuring the continued integrity of the judicial system.
