The Director General of Walled City unveils a Rs 3 billion project to restore key structures in Multan, emphasizing historical and cultural importance. Commissioner Maryam Khan outlines a special plan for fort upgradation, aiming to preserve the region's rich heritage.

The Director General of Walled City, Kamran Lashari, has unveiled a significant project aimed at promoting religious tourism and restoring the areas surrounding Qasim Fort in Multan. With a budget of Rs 3 billion, the project will primarily focus on the restoration of key structures within the Walled City, including Damdama, Nigarkhana, Library, and Langar Khana. The restoration work is scheduled to commence shortly, starting in front of Damdama and around the shrine.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has emphasized the historical and cultural importance of Multan, directing the initiation of an upgradation scheme under the Walled City project. This initiative aligns with the CM's vision to highlight the rich heritage of Multan.

Commissioner Multan, Maryam Khan, has outlined a special plan for the upgradation of the fort and other historical buildings within Punjab Walled City. As part of this plan, government departments currently housed within the fort will be relocated outside its boundaries, and all construction projects will be designed to be accessible for individuals with disabilities.

The restoration efforts on the shrines of saints in Multan are dedicated to preserving the centuries-old architectural style that defines these landmarks. Commissioner Maryam Khan stressed the significance of these shrines as proud symbols of Multan, attracting tourists from around the globe seeking spiritual solace amidst the ancient architectural marvels.

During a recent meeting, Additional Commissioner Abdul Jabbar, Director Development Rubina Kosar, and Najm-ul-Saqib were present to discuss these pivotal developments in the restoration and upgradation of Multan's historical sites.

The ambitious restoration project for Qasim Fort and the surrounding areas in Multan signifies a crucial step towards preserving the rich heritage and cultural legacy of the region.
