The CEO of PESCO condemns attacks on grid stations by public officials, emphasizing accountability and safety measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply in Peshawar.

In a concerning turn of events, the CEO of Peshawar Electric Supply Company Limited (PESCO) has strongly condemned the recent attacks on grid stations by public officials, resulting in significant financial losses. The incidents, which occurred over the Eid holidays, involved several Members of National and Provincial Assemblies and other individuals unlawfully accessing and activating high-loss feeders at various 132KV Grid Stations in Peshawar.

These actions have not only led to financial harm for PESCO but have also posed risks to station equipment due to improper handling of switchgear. The CEO emphasized the need for immediate action, calling for the filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against the responsible individuals.

The incidents have sparked public outrage and drawn criticism from the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly regarding electricity load shedding during Eidul Azha, exacerbated by a heatwave. To address the crisis, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and KPK Chief Minister have engaged in discussions and agreed to further consultations on the issue of load shedding in the coming days.

The recent attacks on grid stations in Peshawar have raised serious concerns about the safety and security of the electricity infrastructure in the region. It is imperative for public officials to adhere to regulations and refrain from engaging in activities that jeopardize the functioning of essential services. By holding those responsible accountable and implementing stricter measures to prevent such incidents, PESCO and the state can work towards ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the residents of Peshawar.
