LESCO's crackdown on electricity theft results in arrests, fines, and revenue recovery, emphasizing legal and ethical standards in power consumption.

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has been cracking down on electricity theft in its circles covering five districts, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, and Okara. In a span of 227 days, LESCO has identified a staggering 77,055 cases of power theft, leading to the registration of 72,494 FIRs and the arrest of 30,434 individuals involved in the illegal activity.

The company has taken a firm stance against electricity theft, with a total of 92,008,163 detection units amounting to Rs 3,409,932,500 being charged to the offenders. Under the supervision of CEO Engineer Shahid Haider, LESCO is committed to eradicating power theft completely, without any discrimination.

Notably, the recent operations have revealed instances of electricity theft by large commercial consumers as well. In one case, a power pilferer in Qila Gujjarpura Singh area was charged Rs 606,000, while fines ranging from Rs 120,000 to Rs 606,000 were imposed on other offenders in different areas.

Furthermore, LESCO has successfully recovered over Rs 3.25 million from 53 chronic defaulters across the five districts. The diligent efforts of various Superintending Engineers have resulted in the collection of outstanding dues from multiple defaulters, contributing significantly to the company's revenue recovery.
