A major fire at Sabzazar grid station in Lahore disrupted power supply, but swift actions by LESCO and NTDC restored electricity within hours.

A major fire broke out at the Sabzazar grid station in Lahore, causing a significant disruption in the city's power supply. The incident was triggered by an explosion at the 220kV grid station on Bund Road, impacting a total of 12 grid stations managed by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). Both the 220kV and 132kV grid stations sustained damage as a result of the explosion and subsequent fire.

Despite the challenges faced, swift actions were taken to restore power to the affected areas. Within seven hours, electricity was successfully reinstated in Sabzazar, along with neighboring regions like Scheme Morr, Samanabad, Iqbal Town, Chauburji, Mansoora, Multan Chungi, and Hanjarwal. The fire led to significant disruptions, leaving many areas without electricity for an extended period.

The collaborative efforts of LESCO and the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) teams played a crucial role in the restoration process. Some equipment and a transformer in the yard suffered partial damage due to the fire, prompting immediate action from LESCO's top executives to address the situation effectively.

NTDC teams have been working tirelessly, supported by fire brigade and rescue teams on-site, to expedite the power restoration efforts. The primary focus remains on restoring power to essential services like the Orange Line train before addressing other affected areas. This incident underscores the resilience and efficient response of LESCO and NTDC in handling emergencies and restoring normalcy to the impacted regions.

The rapid response and coordinated efforts of LESCO and NTDC following the fire at the Sabzazar grid station have been instrumental in mitigating the impact on the city's power supply. The successful restoration of electricity to the affected areas highlights the dedication and efficiency of the teams involved in managing such emergencies. Moving forward, continued vigilance and preparedness will be key in ensuring the uninterrupted provision of electricity to the residents of Lahore.
