Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expresses sorrow over tragic incident

On Friday, a devastating incident occurred on the Karakoram Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district, resulting in the loss of at least 20 lives and leaving 21 others injured. The passenger bus, traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit, met with a tragic fate as it overturned and plunged into a ravine near Gonar Farm.

Local volunteers swiftly responded to the emergency, assisting in transferring the injured individuals to Chilas Hospital for urgent medical attention. The community rallied together, with the local Ulema using mosque loudspeakers to appeal for blood donations to aid the injured.

Authorities confirmed the completion of rescue operations, highlighting the critical condition of five out of the 21 injured individuals. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive medical care to those affected.
