Local tribesmen in Khyber district protest against reduced power supply hours, demanding a return to the promised four-hour schedule. The community's frustration highlights the importance of reliable electricity services in the region.

Local tribesmen in Khyber district took to the streets on Monday to protest against the reduction in power supply hours. The protestors, including tribal elders and activists, blocked the Pak-Afghan highway at Thakia point, Sultan Khel in tehsil Landi Kotal. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the current two-hour power supply schedule, which was decreased from the promised four-hour supply.

The demonstrators highlighted that the Tribal Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) had initially assured them of a four-hour daily electricity supply. However, recent directives from TESCO officials limited the supply to only two hours, leading to disruptions in their daily lives. The protestors demanded a return to the previous schedule to meet their electricity needs.

The road blockade caused significant disruptions, with passengers facing delays in reaching their destinations and long queues of vehicles forming along the highway. The local grid station official confirmed that they were instructed by higher authorities to reduce the electricity supply to 15 feeders to only two hours.

The protest in Khyber district reflects the frustration of local residents over the inadequate power supply. The community's demand for a return to the promised four-hour electricity schedule highlights the importance of reliable electricity services in the region.
