The ongoing dispute over loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa escalates as Chief Minister Gandapur demands fair treatment and immediate release of owed funds from the federal government. Protests erupt against discriminatory electricity supply.

The ongoing dispute between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government regarding loadshedding has intensified. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has made a bold move by restoring power supply at a grid station in Dera Ismail Khan. Gandapur has implemented a strict 12-hour loadshedding schedule and has warned against any violations in any area. He has urged all elected officials to ensure compliance within their constituencies.

Gandapur has strongly criticized the federal government for the frequent power outages in the province, especially during the recent Eidul Azha celebrations and heatwave. He has accused the ruling party of neglecting the electricity needs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has threatened to cut off electricity supply if the situation persists. The chief minister has also condemned the unfair treatment of the province by the Water And Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

In asserting the province's rights, Gandapur has demanded the immediate release of Rs16 billion owed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the federal government. He has warned of seeking assistance from the IMF if the funds are not disbursed promptly. Gandapur has emphasized that the province will not retreat in claiming what rightfully belongs to it.

Protests have erupted in major cities and towns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the discriminatory electricity supply, resulting in traffic disruptions and public outrage. PTI leaders, including Asad Qaiser, have joined the demonstrations and have announced plans to protest both in the National Assembly and on the streets. The situation remains tense as citizens continue to demand uninterrupted power supply and fair treatment from the federal government.

The escalating conflict over loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reflects the pressing need for a resolution between the provincial and federal authorities. Chief Minister Gandapur's decisive actions highlight the urgency of addressing the electricity crisis in the region. As citizens voice their concerns through protests, it is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritize sustainable solutions that ensure reliable power supply and equitable treatment for all residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
