The Punjab PDMA is actively preparing for the monsoon season by implementing proactive measures to minimize risks, issuing urban flooding warnings, and focusing on safe evacuation and flood prevention.

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is gearing up for the upcoming monsoon season by implementing proactive measures to minimize potential risks. With directives from Chief Minister Punjab Maryum Nawaz, efforts are in full swing to clean and de-silt water channels across the province to prevent pre-monsoon emergencies.

Anticipating normal to above-normal rainfall and near-average temperatures, authorities are issuing urban flooding warnings in all districts. Deputy commissioners and relevant officials are on high alert, instructed to implement precautionary measures to protect lives and property from the expected heavy rainfalls.

Flash floods pose a significant risk in various parts of the province, prompting district administrations to ensure the readiness of emergency services personnel, equipment, and resources. An effective response strategy is being developed, with trained personnel ready to handle any disaster efficiently.

Special focus is on the safe evacuation of communities near water bodies to reduce risks. Specific alerts have been issued for urban flooding in cities like Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, and Rawalpindi, urging local administrations to take necessary precautions.

Residents are advised to refrain from crossing rivers and canals during rainy periods, with strict enforcement against bathing in these water bodies. Immediate drainage of excess water in urban areas is vital, along with proactive flood prevention measures in high-risk zones.

As Punjab prepares for the monsoon season, the focus remains on proactive measures to safeguard lives and property from potential flooding risks. By staying informed and following safety guidelines, residents can contribute to a safer environment for all during the upcoming rainy season.
