Rescue 1122 Urges Strict Adherence to Traffic Rules

During the festive period of Eidul Fitr, Punjab was marred by a tragic wave of road accidents, claiming the lives of at least 25 individuals and leaving over 2,500 injured. Rescue 1122 reported a staggering 4,500 road accidents occurring across the province, with a significant number of incidents involving cars and passenger wagons in Faisalabad and Multan.

Among the victims, 4,100 were men and 1,203 were women, highlighting the widespread impact of these accidents. Additionally, a concerning number of bike accidents were also reported in various districts, further adding to the toll of injuries and fatalities.

Expressing deep concern over the situation, Rescue 1122 Director General Dr. Rizwan Naseer emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and safety protocols to prevent such tragedies. Lahore emerged as the city with the highest number of accidents at 770, resulting in a significant influx of injured individuals seeking medical assistance.

Other major cities like Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala also witnessed a notable number of accidents, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures. Dr. Naseer's alarm over the escalating number of road traffic accidents, particularly those involving motorcycles, serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by commuters on Punjab's roads.

The recent statistics revealing 282 lives lost in March alone due to road traffic accidents further underscore the pressing need for concerted efforts to improve road safety and prevent further loss of precious lives.
