Senior lawyers from South Punjab have formally requested Chief Justice of Pakistan to enable video link hearings in the Supreme Court for cases from the region, aiming to improve access to justice and streamline legal proceedings.

Senior lawyers from South Punjab have formally requested Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to consider enabling cases from the region to be heard in the Supreme Court via video link in Multan. This request comes as a means to provide easier access to justice for the region's vast population of over 38 million.

The lawyers, who are members of the Supreme Court Bar Association, have drawn attention to the significant backlog of cases and appeals in South Punjab in comparison to regions like Peshawar and Quetta. They have pointed out that implementing video link hearings would not only be a more cost-effective solution but also a practical one, requiring just one room and two staff members. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden on the residents of South Punjab, sparing them from the hardships of long journeys and associated expenses.

The proposal to introduce video link hearings in the Supreme Court for cases from South Punjab holds the promise of enhancing access to justice and streamlining legal proceedings for the region's residents. If implemented, this measure could mark a significant step towards a more efficient and inclusive judicial system in Pakistan.
