South Punjab authorities, led by ACS Rabbani, are actively enhancing flood preparedness through infrastructure projects and coordination efforts to protect the region from natural disasters.

South Punjab is gearing up to tackle encroachments in its natural river channels as Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani has initiated a crucial operation. The focus is on repairing headworks and river spurs to enhance flood preparedness in the region.

During a recent meeting, Secretary Irrigation Ejaz Khaliq Razzaqi provided updates on flood preparations. The gathering included key officials like Secretary Services Engineer Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen, Secretary P&D Aftab Pirzada, Commissioner Bahawalpur Nadir Chatha, and RPO Bahawalpur Rai Babar.

ACS Rabbani stressed the urgency of constructing spurs in DG Khan Division to mitigate flash floods from Koh-e-Suleman. He also emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of river spurs. Coordination between the irrigation department and district administrations was highlighted as essential for effective flood management.

Secretary Razzaqi shared that numerous development projects worth Rs 17 billion were underway in South Punjab, with a focus on flood protection measures. Projects in areas like Magasan Canal Taunsa Barrage and DG Khan are aimed at safeguarding against potential disasters.

Commissioner Bahawalpur Nadir Chatha reassured the public of the administration's readiness to handle any flood emergencies, with necessary machinery and relief preparations in place.
