Sindh Minister Nasir Shah reveals South African experts endorse Thar Coal for gasification, diesel, and power generation. Plans for technology transfer to China and provincial policy on gasification formulation discussed, signaling a promising future for energy production in Pakistan.

The Sindh Minister for Energy and Planning & Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that South African experts have confirmed the suitability of Thar Coal for gasification, diesel production, and power generation. This revelation came during a high-level meeting of the Sindh Coal Authority (SCA) where a report on the coal sample from Thar Coal Block II was reviewed.

Minister Nasir Shah disclosed plans to send a delegation from the SCA to China to explore technology transfer opportunities. The meeting also discussed the formulation of a provincial policy on gasification, with Minister Shah set to engage with the Federal government on enhancing gas efficiency at the provincial level.

Prior to this, Secretary of Energy Sindh Kazim Ali Jatoi and Director General of Sindh Coal Authority Haq Nawaz Shar provided detailed briefings during the meeting.

The potential of Thar Coal for various energy applications, as endorsed by international experts, signals a significant development in Pakistan's energy sector. The government's proactive approach towards leveraging this resource for domestic energy needs and exploring technology collaborations underscores a promising future for energy production in the region.
