Sindh's Minister of Energy exposes over-billing practices by electric companies, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and the promotion of alternative energy sources to ensure fair and affordable electricity services for the people of Sindh.

Sindh's Minister of Energy, Nasir Hussain Shah, has revealed that K-Electric, Hesco, and Sepco have been engaged in over-billing practices, causing financial strain on the people of Sindh. Speaking at a public event, Minister Shah disclosed that these electric companies had collected millions of rupees through inflated bills. The government intervened to rectify the situation and successfully refunded the excess amounts to the affected consumers.

Minister Shah also shed light on complaints of over-billing within government departments, particularly related to the delayed installation of smart meters despite payments being made. He expressed concern that only 30 to 35 percent of the smart meters had been installed even a year after the payments were processed.

Emphasizing the importance of exploring alternative energy sources, Minister Shah mentioned that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had instructed to take measures to reduce electricity bills. He highlighted ongoing projects, including collaborations with the World Bank, aimed at addressing the energy challenges in the region.

In response to potential obstacles in land acquisition for manufacturing purposes, Minister Shah assured cooperation in resolving such issues to facilitate the development of the energy sector.

The revelations made by Sindh's Energy Minister regarding over-billing by electric companies underscore the significance of transparency and accountability in the energy sector.
