The University of Sindh awards scholarships totaling Rs 1.545 million to four female students, promoting gender equality and academic excellence. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro distributed the scholarships, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in higher education.

Three female M.Phil scholars and one undergraduate student at the University of Sindh have been awarded scholarships totaling Rs 1.545 million through the British Scottish Scholarship for Young Female Undergraduate/M.Phil Students. The scholarships were distributed by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, during a special ceremony held at the university.

Laiba, a student in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, received Rs 177,000, while M.Phil scholars Iqra Kanwal (Biochemistry), Shahzadi Hina (Botany), and Hurya Khan (Microbiology) each received Rs 456,000. The selection committee, comprising Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko, Prof. Dr. Arfana Begum Mallah, and Prof. Dr. Nanak Ram, was also in attendance.

Dr. Kalhoro highlighted that the scholarships were announced by the British Council, and after a rigorous selection process, these four students from the University of Sindh were chosen as recipients. The British Council approved the selected names and allocated Rs 1.545 million to the Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO) for disbursement.

Dr. Kalhoro expressed his enthusiasm for future collaborations with the British Council to enhance scholarship opportunities and urged students to explore both national and international funding options. Notable university officials, including Prof. Dr. Khalilur Rehman Khoumbhati and Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Chandio, were also present at the event.

The University of Sindh's initiative to support female students through scholarships not only recognizes academic excellence but also promotes gender equality in higher education. Such opportunities empower young women to pursue their educational aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.
