The United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, recently praised the collaboration between the US Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section and Pakistani authorities in the inauguration of the new Police Training College (PTC) campus in Quetta. The $5.35 million-dollar project has significantly expanded the training capacity of the college, with the construction of seven new buildings and renovation of four existing ones. This upgrade aims to provide high-quality, skills-based training to law enforcement personnel, equipping them to operate effectively in challenging environments.

Ambassador Blome emphasized the importance of the new facility in enhancing the preparedness of police officers to tackle daily risks and challenges. The US has also provided essential equipment, including radio communication devices, mine detectors, vehicles, and blast suppression gear, to bolster operations and security in Balochistan.

Besides training initiatives, the partnership between the US and Pakistan extends to security, anti-narcotics efforts, and counterterrorism measures. Ambassador Blome commended the progress in increasing women's representation in the police force, highlighting the achievements of officers like Zarghoona Manzoor, who transitioned from a homemaker to leading Balochistan’s first women’s police station.

The inauguration of new facilities for women police recruits at PTC-Quetta signifies a significant step towards gender-inclusive policing. Additionally, the partnership focuses on addressing economic, environmental, and energy challenges, with initiatives such as solarizing buildings and promoting clean energy.

In conclusion, Ambassador Blome reiterated the importance of a strong security foundation for broader cooperation between the US and Pakistan, emphasizing the partnership's role in enhancing Pakistan's security capabilities and promoting peace and prosperity for its citizens.
