The USAID-supported Games in Landikotal promote sports among youth while addressing land ownership issues. The LRMA Activity aims to enhance land record management and ensure economic development opportunities in the Merged Areas.

The recently launched Games, supported by USAID and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, aim to engage youth from Landikotal in healthy sports activities while raising awareness about land ownership issues. The event, which commenced with a lively opening ceremony at the University of Peshawar's new sports arena, features cricket, football, volleyball, and badminton competitions for both male and female athletes.

Organized under the USAID-Pakistan Land Registration in Merged Area Project, the initiative seeks to provide accurate land records to families, landowners, investors, and government entities over a four-year period. By leveraging technology and efficient management practices, the project aims to improve land record management, governance, and economic growth planning in the region.

Secretary Board of Revenue, KP, Atta Ul Munim, expressed appreciation for USAID's support towards the LRMA Activity, emphasizing its role in enhancing the legal framework for land ownership, dispute resolution, and economic development. The project aligns with the KP Govt Tribal Decade Strategy, focusing on ensuring secure land tenure and property rights for citizens in the Merged Areas.

With the establishment of a land registration system in seven districts, the LRMA Activity facilitates access to up-to-date land records for stakeholders, promotes equitable rights recognition, and provides mechanisms for dispute resolution and land use planning for economic development.

The Games, which witnessed the participation of 200 players across various sports, received full kits and gear. The finals and closing ceremony are set for May 31, 2024, promising an exciting conclusion to the event.

The USAID-sponsored Games not only promote sportsmanship among the youth of Landikotal but also contribute to raising awareness about crucial land ownership issues in the region. Through initiatives like the LRMA Activity, efforts are being made to ensure secure land tenure, property rights, and economic development opportunities for the citizens of the Merged Areas.
