The Sindh government, in collaboration with UNICEF, is gearing up to organize a crucial donor conference in September 2024 aimed at tackling the pressing issue of children who are currently not enrolled in schools. This significant decision stems from a productive meeting between a delegation from UNICEF and Sindh's Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah. The UNICEF delegation, headed by Country Representative Abdullah Fadal, lauded Sindh's proactive stance in advocating for out-of-school children and recognized the positive outcomes of the provincial government's non-formal education initiatives.

Minister Sardar Shah underscored the government's unwavering dedication to boosting enrollment rates and ensuring that every child has access to quality education. He emphasized the pivotal role of non-formal education, school enhancements, and improved transportation services for girls in addressing the out-of-school children predicament. The establishment of a Model School Support Unit in Sindh is poised to revolutionize the education landscape and offer enhanced facilities.

The forthcoming donor conference is poised to convene diverse stakeholders to deliberate on strategies to combat the issue of out-of-school children. The UNICEF delegation extolled Sindh's 'Science in Sindh' initiatives and pledged their full support for the cause. A non-formal education coordination committee will be established to bolster the Science in Sindh program, with the overarching goal of enriching educational prospects for children in the region.

During the meeting, Minister Sardar Shah presented the UNICEF delegation with a traditional Sindhi Ajrak as a token of goodwill and gratitude for their collaborative efforts.

The collaborative efforts between the Sindh government and UNICEF signify a crucial step towards addressing the plight of out-of-school children in the region. With a focus on innovative education programs and strategic partnerships, the upcoming donor conference holds promise for fostering a brighter future for all children in Sindh.
