The Capital Development Authority in Islamabad lifts ban on property transfers following court order, amidst investigations into alleged fraudulent land allotments.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has recently lifted the ban on property transfers that was initially imposed in January 2024. The ban, which was put in place by the Deputy Director General Land, has now been revoked following a court order from the Islamabad High Court.

The restriction on transferring properties primarily affected land affectees, individuals who had received plots as compensation for their acquired land. This ban had caused uncertainty among hundreds of buyers and had been a point of contention for real estate agents.

Real Estate Agents Association had protested against the ban, arguing that any wrongdoing should be addressed specifically rather than halting the entire transfer process. After meeting with CDA officials, the association's concerns were not addressed until they approached the Islamabad High Court.

The court directed the CDA to resume property transfers immediately, emphasizing the right of private individuals to transfer ownership. Despite the CDA issuing a notification, doubts remain among realtors about the authority's intentions, with some suspecting reluctance from higher management to fully comply with court orders.

Former Member Estate Afnan Alam Khan and other officers were under investigation by the Federal Investigation Agency over alleged fraudulent land allotments in sector E-11. The anti-corruption watchdog has requested details of all allotments and changes during Khan's tenure.

In the coming days, clarity is expected on the property transfer process as the CDA navigates through these recent developments.
