Recent concerns over intelligence agency interference in judicial affairs prompt Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to call for a judicial convention. The Prime Minister's adviser emphasizes the need for constructive dialogue to resolve issues and uphold the rule of law.

Recently, judges expressed worries about potential interference by intelligence agencies in judicial affairs, prompting the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs to stress the necessity of establishing a mechanism to prevent such interference between institutions. This concern arose following a letter from judges at the Islamabad High Court outlining alleged interference by intelligence agencies.

In response to the judges' letter, the Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa called for a full court meeting to address the concerns raised and to seek guidance on the responsibility of judges to report any interference in their official duties. The judges urged for a judicial convention to tackle this issue, leading to the formation of a commission to investigate the allegations, with former Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani appointed as its head.

However, the former Chief Justice recused himself from the investigation, prompting the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the matter. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's adviser expressed frustration over stalled talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) since 2014, attributing the lack of progress to PTI founder Imran Khan's reluctance to engage in dialogue with politicians.

The adviser criticized Khan's reliance on talk shows to push for revolution and emphasized the importance of ending the current deadlock through constructive dialogue. He highlighted the PTI's willingness to engage with the establishment and stressed the need for resolving issues among politicians themselves, as advised by the military.

It is crucial to address concerns of interference in judicial matters and ensure the independence of the judiciary. Constructive dialogue and cooperation between institutions are essential for resolving issues and moving forward. By fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, we can strengthen our democratic processes and uphold the rule of law.
