In a recent budget session of the Punjab Assembly, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz delivered a strong critique of the opposition amidst disruptions caused by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmakers. The session, chaired by Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan, focused on the Budget FY25 despite protests and anti-PML-N slogans from the opposition.

CM Maryam emphasized the fair governance of the PML-N government, highlighting that they did not misuse power against political rivals or restrict facilities for them. She condemned the PTI's past governance in Punjab, citing instances like the removal of air conditioners from prison cells.

Furthermore, CM Maryam disclosed that PML-N President Nawaz Sharif had directed authorities to provide two air conditioners in Imran Khan's prison cell at Adiala Jail. She also addressed criticism from PTI supporters regarding her actions, such as checking roti prices at tandoors.

Highlighting Punjab's achievements, CM Maryam pointed out the reduction in roti prices, contrasting it with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the presentation of a tax-free budget for the first time. She underscored the government's efforts in providing free medicines at government hospitals and controlling inflation to benefit the public.

Despite the disruptions caused by the opposition, the assembly failed to approve the supplementary budget and adjourned the session. Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan expressed his commitment to using constitutional powers to maintain order in future sessions, resulting in the banning of 11 opposition lawmakers from attending 15 assembly sessions.

In response to the chaos, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari condemned the opposition's behavior and promised a strong response in the next session. She assured that the treasury benches would not entertain opposition speeches in the upcoming session to ensure decorum.

The budget session of the Punjab Assembly witnessed heated exchanges and disruptions, with CM Maryam Nawaz standing firm in her defense of the PML-N government's policies and actions. The opposition's behavior led to a lack of progress in approving the supplementary budget, prompting Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan to take decisive measures to maintain order in future sessions. As tensions continue to simmer, the political landscape in Punjab remains charged with contrasting views and approaches, setting the stage for further confrontations and debates in the assembly.
