Unauthorized entries at power grid stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prompt Energy Minister to seek assistance, highlighting safety risks and the need for enhanced security measures.

Incidents of unauthorized entry at various grid stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have raised alarms, prompting Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari to seek assistance from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. These unauthorized entries have been occurring during protests against power cuts in different cities and districts across the province.

Leghari, in a letter to Naqvi, highlighted the involvement of certain individuals, including lawmakers, in leading these protests and unauthorized entries at grid stations in Mardan, Charsadda, Tank, Bannu, and Peshawar. The Energy Minister emphasized the risks posed to the safety of both the grid stations and personnel due to these actions.

The concerns escalated when KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur forcibly entered a grid station in Dera Ismail Khan to restore power supply, following a dispute over electricity load-shedding in the province.

Leghari expressed worries about the losses and power theft resulting from forced power restoration, emphasizing the need for legal action against trespassers to prevent similar incidents in other districts. He urged the Interior Minister to enhance security at grid stations and ensure law enforcement agencies take appropriate measures.

The trend of unauthorized entries at power grid stations in KP gained momentum after MPA Fazal Elahi forcefully entered a grid station in Peshawar to address load-shedding protests in his area. These incidents reflect citizens taking matters into their own hands during prolonged power cuts.

Discussions between Gandapur, Naqvi, and Leghari have been initiated to resolve these issues through negotiations and find a peaceful solution.

The unauthorized entries at power grid stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have become a growing concern, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to address the underlying issues causing these incidents. It is crucial for authorities to prioritize the security of grid stations and personnel while finding sustainable solutions to prevent disruptions in power supply.
