Federal Minister Amir Muqam leads efforts to optimize state properties in Jammu & Kashmir through rental rate adjustments, construction site identification, and transparent processes.

The recent meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan and States & Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Engineer Amir Muqam shed light on the state properties of Jammu & Kashmir under the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs. The minister highlighted the necessity to adjust rental rates for plazas and shops to better reflect market values, proposing a gradual increase beyond the current 8 percent. He directed a survey by NESPAK to identify vacant plots in Punjab for future construction projects. Furthermore, steps were outlined to lease out barren lands in various districts through a transparent bidding process.

During the meeting, Engineer Amir Muqam expressed disappointment with the slow progress on previous initiatives. Ministry officials emphasized the significance of upholding agreements, such as the one with the Nawab of Bahawalpur regarding the Bahawalpur Estate, and ensuring the rightful transfer of properties to heirs. The gathering, attended by administrators and staff members, aimed to effectively tackle these pressing issues.

The efforts led by Federal Minister Amir Muqam underscore the government's commitment to managing state properties in Jammu & Kashmir efficiently. By addressing rental discrepancies, identifying potential construction sites, and ensuring transparent processes, the ministry aims to optimize the utilization of land resources for the benefit of the region and its residents.
