Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh directs Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority

The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, visited the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority to direct the authority to enhance its revenue and ensure its sustainability. During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by Secretary Maritime Affairs Iram Anjum Khan and other officials. Managing Director Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI (M) welcomed the Minister and briefed him on the current and future projects of the authority.

Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed highlighted the proposal for the formation of the Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority Board, aimed at improving the functionality of the authority. Plans were discussed to import floating piers to expand the jetty, increase income, and facilitate small boats. Additionally, the authority intends to lease 24 acres of land for 30 years to establish Seafood Factories, further boosting revenue.

Other initiatives include constructing a boundary wall for security, engaging with the provincial government to set up Rangers/Police pickets, and extending fishermen's access to sea areas up to 200 nautical miles. The Minister emphasized the need for stringent measures to enhance revenue generation and ensure the authority's viability.

In conclusion, the government is committed to establishing a Board for the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority and supporting its efforts to become a more efficient and profitable entity.
