The Federal Investigation Agency is investigating a video posted on Imran Khan's social media, alleging anti-state propaganda and inciting debate on historical figures in Pakistan's history.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been tasked with investigating a video that was posted on the official social media account of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). The video, which was shared on Imran Khan's Twitter account, compared Awami League chief Sheikh Mujeebur Rehman with former dictator General Yahya Khan, sparking a debate on the true traitor in Pakistan's history.

The video alleged that General Yahya Khan prevented Sheikh Mujeeb from assuming power after the 1970 elections, ultimately leading to Mujeeb's trial and conviction in a military court. This comparison between the two historical figures has raised concerns about its potential to incite anti-state sentiments and disrespect towards state institutions, particularly the Pakistan Army.

Following a complaint received by the FIA's Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, it was highlighted that the video shared by Imran Khan's account contained content that could be deemed as anti-state propaganda. The FIA has recommended taking legal action against the user of the Twitter handle '@ImranKhanPTI' for allegedly engaging in activities that could threaten national security.

It is important to mention that Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023 and does not have access to the internet or social media platforms. Moreover, the social media platform 'X' has been inaccessible in Pakistan since the 2024 general elections due to an unofficial ban imposed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The investigation into the video shared on Imran Khan's social media account underscores the importance of responsible online behavior and the potential consequences of spreading content that may incite unrest or undermine state institutions. As digital platforms continue to play a significant role in shaping public discourse, it is crucial for individuals to exercise caution and adhere to legal and ethical standards when sharing information online.
